It is also called Kok-Kol, a name shared by many lakes in Kyrgyzstan. The identifying detail is therefore the Sokuluk and Belogorka approach rather than the name “Blue Lake” alone. Its setting combines a water basin with reddish rock faces and the changing colours of foothill vegetation.
Seasonality is central to the visit. The local route publisher describes a lake that may shrink greatly or dry by the middle of summer, with fuller water more likely in late spring and early summer. A photograph taken during a full-water period is not a reliable promise for another month. Even when water is limited, the surrounding landforms remain the same place; choose whether your interest is the lake surface or a walk through the valley before setting expectations.
The approach involves a side valley, climbing and possible water crossings rather than a level stroll from a town centre. The crossing situation depends on the starting point used by your vehicle and the day’s flow. Follow a current route description and make a conservative decision when water has risen. Do not assume that a line along one bank avoids every obstacle, or that stepping stones shown in a previous visitor’s photograph will remain usable.
At the basin, enjoy the wider view before trying to follow the whole shoreline. Wet ground, livestock routes and the outlet require the same attention as the uphill path. Belogorka Waterfall is another destination in the wider Sokuluk area, not an automatic continuation of this walk. A visit to Borulu is particularly satisfying when planned around the temporary water landscape itself: the contrast between coloured rock, spring greenery and a basin whose appearance changes through the year.
Exact feature point was not independently resolved; no guessed map pin.
