It is a popular destination from Karakol, but the rough approach is part of the trip and should not be confused with an ordinary city transfer. Walkers and organised off-road visitors often share the valley, so choose the style and length of excursion that suits you. Higher trails continue towards demanding alpine terrain. Thermal bathing facilities are locally managed; confirm their arrangements rather than assuming every pool is public or available.
