The earthworks and the relationship between the settlement and its surrounding river landscape are central to understanding the place. Historical identifications proposed for the site remain interpretations, so the page does not present a disputed ancient city name as certain. Shorobashat is included in a tentative Silk Roads nomination; that is different from inscription as a World Heritage property. Arrange access locally and avoid climbing fragile banks or removing surface finds.
