Above the narrower gorge, the landscape opens into the Kyrchyn pasture area where tributary valleys meet. It is a separate valley from Grigoriev Gorge, whose river is Chon Ak-Suu; the similar names often blur the distinction in short excursion adverts.
Agree the intended part of the valley before travel. A roadside stop in the lower gorge, a walk on the upper pasture and a crossing towards a neighbouring valley are different outings. Confirm road conditions and the vehicle’s suitability rather than assuming that an advertised combined tour defines a road open to all cars.
The attraction is the transition from river and forest to open grazing country. Seasonal yurts may be present, but their presence does not establish a named bookable camp or a programme running on your dates. Arrange any overnight stay with a specific host.
