It stands near the entrance to a mountain valley southwest of Karakol, where the exposed red formations give way to greener slopes and higher pastures. A short visit can focus on the rocks and surrounding viewpoints; a longer day can continue into the valley if conditions allow. Local stories give the formations their memorable names, while their colours and shapes are striking in their own right. Stay on established paths around the easily eroded rock.
