ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Jeti-Oguz is a valley destination southwest of Karakol, recognised by the red Seven Bulls and Broken Heart rock formations near its lower resort area. The colour and shape of those rocks distinguish this foothill setting from the higher forest and pasture country upstream.
Kok-Jaiyk, the Valley of Flowers, belongs to that upper pasture context. It is a separate place beyond the lower red-rock stop, not a different name for the Seven Bulls. Karakol provides the city setting for a day in the valley, while the contrast between town, red cliffs and mountain meadow gives the excursion its geographical variety.
