The reservoir’s shores and surrounding hills offer striking views, particularly when approached after the enclosed valleys of the north–south road. It is also a working part of the country’s water and energy infrastructure. Choose public viewpoints and local accommodation rather than wandering into operational areas. Water levels and shoreline access vary, so a map point over the reservoir is only a general reference. A relaxed overnight stop can break up a long road journey and reveal changing light across the basin.
