Founded in 1938, it operates within the National Academy of Sciences and maintains plant collections relevant to Kyrgyzstan and regions beyond it. Municipal accounts describe public educational walks and explain its role as a research institution rather than simply a city recreation park.
An informed visit is best planned around the part of the garden actually open to visitors and any available guided explanation. The institution has more than one site: municipal material distinguishes a branch on Gorky Street from the larger garden associated with the Akhunbaev and 7 April streets area. Ask which entrance and collection your visit concerns, instead of using the shared name as an exact meeting point.
Paths, nurseries, experimental plots and service areas may have different rules. Do not pick plants or enter working collections without permission. The seasonal interest lies in changing vegetation, not a promise that every greenhouse or exhibition will be accessible. Check current arrangements before travelling specifically for an indoor collection or an organised group visit.
