OpenStreetMap reference geometry, not a recorded or recently checked trail. Separate segments are shown without invented connections.

Elevation profile

Estimated terrain profile: NASA SRTM, 30 m resolution. This is a model estimate along the mapped line, not device-recorded altitude. Separate segments are not connected.

How to read these figures

DEM terrain estimate along this exact GPX export, not device-recorded altitude. Gain/loss follow each exported segment direction; branches can have arbitrary direction, so totals are not a prescribed walking itinerary. Narrow summits, cliffs, glaciers and changes since the SRTM survey may be inaccurate.

Surface and terrain

  • Ground100.0%

Share of mapped length from OSM tags, not a field survey. Unspecified sections remain unknown.

The source does not provide a complete surface survey. Expect conditions to change after rain, snow and river floods.

ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Komsomolets is a distinct summit in the Ala-Archa mountains of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too, south of Bishkek. Published outings connect it with the Tepshi and Violet Pass side of the valley. This gives it a different geographical setting from the Ak-Sai approach towards Ratsek Hut and Uchitel.

The mountain is also discussed together with neighbouring Pioneer because a ridge traverse can link the two. The relationship makes the surrounding ridgeline part of the interest, but a single-peak ascent and a two-summit traverse remain different objectives. Looking across the ridges helps explain why the park is more than one river walk: separate mountain systems rise above the same lower valley.

Route grading

1B Reported by the source

The description of this exact mapped way says Komsomolets 1B. This is a map contributor’s label, not official confirmation.

The file covers an upper section. Its source label does not classify the full approach or verify current conditions.

Preparation

  • Sure-footed movement on loose ground; navigation and weather decisions.
  • Recognise when snow, exposure or altitude exceed the party’s training; know the descent.

Equipment to discuss with your guide

  • Footwear suited to the actual surface; warm and weatherproof layers, headlamp and navigation.
  • Helmet, rope or snow equipment where the actual line and conditions require them; agree this with the leader.

ROUTE OVERVIEW

At a glance

The upper section of an ascent to Komsomolets Peak. Plan the lower approach and descent as separate stages.

Exact mapped source way coordinates; no invented links, elevation or timestamps. This may be only a summit section, not a complete ascent itinerary.

An ascent needs a separate assessment of the approach, altitude, slope conditions and descent. A short summit track does not automatically include the valley approach, acclimatisation or preparation for technical terrain.

Track length: 4.4 km. This distance covers the track shown on the map. Add any approach, return or transfer sections that are outside it.

Is this route for you?

Choose the route after checking the actual start, finish and terrain with a local guide. Mapped geometry alone does not establish technical difficulty. Your group should be comfortable navigating offline and changing plans when conditions deteriorate.

Getting there

Confirm the actual approach with local guides and arrange return transport. The first track point may belong to an upper section rather than a vehicle-accessible trailhead.

Without a car

Confirm transport to the actual trailhead, not just the nearest town. Agree the return pickup point and a latest contact time before leaving mobile coverage.

By car & parking

Ask locally about road access, entry rules and a permitted place to park. Use the line only for its stated mode of travel and exact scope.

What you will find along the way

An OSM path ending at the Komsomolets summit node, exported in ascent direction. The file covers only this mapped upper section; lower approach and descent planning remain separate.

Difficult sections & safety

Mountain weather can change quickly. Rain affects traction and river crossings; snow can remain on shaded slopes. Never assume a mapped line confirms a safe crossing or a passable trail. Check recent conditions locally, set a turnaround time and leave your plan with someone who can raise the alarm.

How much time to allow

Plan your timing around the distance, ascent, terrain, weather and your group’s pace. Include breaks, the approach, descent and return transport. A past trip’s time is a reference, not a schedule for your group.

When to go

Confirm season and snow conditions before departure. Summer dates alone do not establish suitable conditions for a high mountain objective.

What to bring

For an ascent, confirm technical equipment, acclimatisation and team competence requirements with a qualified guide.

  • Trail shoes or boots with good grip; layers, sun protection and waterproofs.
  • Drinking water, food, a first-aid kit and a headlamp.
  • An offline map, downloaded GPX, a charged phone and a power bank.
  • An agreed return plan, local contact and a realistic fallback route.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you set out

Can I download GPX and KML?

Yes. The downloads above contain this route geometry for an offline navigation app. They do not confirm current conditions.

Has this route been checked recently?

KyrgyzMap has not field-verified this route. The map source and licence are shown below. Look for approved traveller reports and check conditions with local guides.

Can I go with children?

Suitability for children is not confirmed for this exact route. Check terrain, exposure, river crossings and retreat options with a guide before deciding.

How is the elevation profile calculated?

Estimated terrain profile: NASA SRTM, 30 m resolution. This is a model estimate along the mapped line, not device-recorded altitude. Separate segments are not connected.
