ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Beshalchalutash is a named mountain objective associated with the Chunkurchak side of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too south of Bishkek. The place belongs to the mountain landscape above the gorge, where wooded slopes and meadow terrain lead towards open upper ground.

The local club’s outing description distinguishes that changing landscape from the final scree approach to the peak. The interest therefore lies in more than the top alone: the sequence from forest to pasture and then to the upper mountain shows the different levels of this side of the range. It should not be confused with a visit to one of Chunkurchak’s recreation establishments.

Getting there

Confirm the actual approach with local guides and arrange return transport. The first track point may belong to an upper section rather than a vehicle-accessible trailhead.

Without a car

Confirm transport to the actual trailhead, not just the nearest town. Agree the return pickup point and a latest contact time before leaving mobile coverage.

By car & parking

Ask locally about road access, entry rules and a permitted place to park. Use the line only for its stated mode of travel and exact scope.

What you will find along the way

A Kyrgyzstan route: Beshalchalutash from Chunkurchak. Plan around the terrain, season and your group’s experience.

  1. Line start 42.5993, 74.6183

A point of the supplied route geometry. It does not by itself confirm a parking area, settlement or safe access. Read the access and route notes before planning your visit.

  2. Line end 42.5980, 74.6124

A point of the supplied route geometry. It does not by itself confirm a parking area, settlement or safe access. Read the access and route notes before planning your visit.

Difficult sections & safety

Mountain weather can change quickly. Rain affects traction and river crossings; snow can remain on shaded slopes. Never assume a mapped line confirms a safe crossing or a passable trail. Check recent conditions locally, set a turnaround time and leave your plan with someone who can raise the alarm.

How much time to allow

Plan your timing around the distance, ascent, terrain, weather and your group’s pace. Include breaks, the approach, descent and return transport. A past trip’s time is a reference, not a schedule for your group.

When to go

Confirm season and snow conditions before departure. Summer dates alone do not establish suitable conditions for a high mountain objective.

What to bring

Match water, food and clothing to the actual outing duration and forecast.

  • Trail shoes or boots with good grip; layers, sun protection and waterproofs.
  • Drinking water, food, a first-aid kit and a headlamp.
  • An offline map, downloaded GPX, a charged phone and a power bank.
  • An agreed return plan, local contact and a realistic fallback route.
