Rock debris, buried ice and meltwater connections make the setting important both visually and scientifically. Some water moves underground, so the visible shoreline does not explain the whole hydrological system. The emergency ministry reported monitoring the lakes in July 2024; that dated observation is not a permanent declaration of current conditions. The map reference here is a mapped lakeside point reached by a supplied track, not a surveyed centre of every lake or an identification of the study’s numbered Lake 2.
Mapped lakeside endpoint reference (42.512724,74.438269), not a lake centre; not assigned to a numbered lake in the scientific paper.
