At the eastern foot of Sulaiman-Too, the mausoleum of Asaf ibn Burkhiya connects a compact architectural monument with the mountain’s wider pilgrimage history. Its portal and dome make a different kind of stop from the paths and caves above.

The present building reflects rebuilding and restoration over several periods. Museum research also identified traces of an earlier burial structure. Asaf’s association with Solomon belongs to the site’s religious tradition; it should not be read as archaeological proof of the identity of a person buried here. Look at the relationship between the entrance, domed chamber and mountain setting, and leave space for people visiting to pray.
