It lies in Chuy Region and is not Issyk-Kul Lake. That distinction matters when booking transport: the destination is the river gorge and resort settlement southeast of Bishkek, not the country’s much larger eastern lake basin. A visit can focus on landscape, cultural history or a separately arranged bathing session.
The valley is well known for mineral springs, while a rock bearing a Buddha image adds a different historical layer to the resort area. Treat the carving as a cultural object rather than a surface to touch or climb. The presence of springs is not a recommendation for medical treatment, and facilities inside the sanatorium operate under their own visitor arrangements. Ask directly which services and areas are accessible during your visit.
Waterfalls offer a walking objective beyond the settlement. The locally published route description distinguishes falls on opposite sides of the main river. Reaching one does not provide an easy crossing to the other: a sensible plan may require returning to the bridge in the settlement before changing banks. This is an important difference between what looks close on a map and what is practical on foot. Select a particular waterfall and route before agreeing a pickup time.
Upper lakes and passes belong to a longer mountain itinerary and should not be silently added to a casual resort visit. Even near the lower valley, shade, ice and a cold wind can make conditions very different from Bishkek. The public Telegram announcement confirms that local operators have organised waterfall-and-springs outings, not that the route is currently inspected or that every facility accepts walk-in visitors. Leave time to enjoy the valley itself and confirm the actual return arrangements.
Exact feature point was not independently resolved; no guessed map pin.
Plan your visit
Getting there
Choose the resort approach and the correct riverbank for your walk; visitor rules of the sanatorium are separate.
When to visit
The resort and upper trails have different seasonal conditions; waterfall walks need ice and water-level checks.
Good to know
Confirm local access, opening arrangements and any entry rules before travel. Respect protected sites and local communities; leave the place as you found it.

Chuy Region
Alamedin Gorge
Alamedin is a river gorge on the northern side of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too, south of Bishkek. Its lower valley offers a gradual introduction to the mountains: an open river corridor, grassy slopes and views towards the higher range.

Nevaket: Krasnaya Rechka
Nevaket, also known through the modern name Krasnaya Rechka, is another of the Chuy Valley’s UNESCO Silk Roads sites.
