At-Bashy

At-Bashy is the main settlement of the district of the same name in southern Naryn Region. For a traveller, it is a place to connect a valley’s everyday life with the archaeological and mountain landscapes farther along the journey.

At-Bashy is the main settlement of the district of the same name in southern Naryn Region. For a traveller, it is a place to connect a valley’s everyday life with the archaeological and mountain landscapes farther along the journey. Its name also appears on a river and a mountain range, so check that a map search has selected the settlement.

Koshoy-Korgon is a separate archaeological site near Kara-Suu, outside the village centre. Visit with enough time to understand the surviving earthworks and keep to appropriate access rather than climbing fragile remains for a photograph. The At-Bashy Canyon entry describes another landscape feature of the district: use its own location and approach information instead of assuming it begins at the main street.

Tash Rabat and Kel-Suu are longer excursions within the wider region. They require distinct transport and overnight decisions, and access arrangements must be checked for the particular destination. A stop in At-Bashy can help organise these details, but it does not make every nearby mountain road suitable for every vehicle. Ask where the agreed transfer ends and what travel still remains beyond that point.

When to visit

Village travel is possible year-round; remote valleys and high passes require separate seasonal checks.

Good to know

Confirm local access, opening arrangements and any entry rules before travel. Respect protected sites and local communities; leave the place as you found it.
