Route and stops
Planning your visit

This southern journey connects the settled history of the Fergana Valley with a forest village in the mountains. Uzgen offers a concentrated architectural visit; Arslanbob rewards a slower stay with local hosts. Combining them over several days leaves room for both, without turning the forest into a rushed stop on a long transfer.

Begin from accommodation in Osh and drive to the Uzgen monument complex. Confirm visitor access to individual buildings, leave the car in a permitted place and explore the brickwork on foot. The site appears in Kyrgyzstan’s Silk Roads Tentative List documentation; do not present tentative status as World Heritage inscription. An explanation of the minaret and mausoleums adds more than simply photographing the tower.

Continue through the established Jalal-Abad/Bazar-Korgon road corridor to your confirmed address in Arslanbob. The final village streets may be narrow and uneven. Ask the host where to stop, especially if the house is reached by a lane unsuitable for your vehicle.

Use the second day for one forest walk or a waterfall outing agreed locally. The Small and Big waterfalls are different trips; neither becomes a vehicle endpoint because a tourist map shows its location. The forest also supports households and seasonal work, so ask about paths and collecting rules before entering or picking produce.

Book at least one village night, with two nights giving a more relaxed walking day and departure. Agree meals, bathroom arrangements and any guide or local transfer separately. Roadworks, rain and autumn harvest activity can change the pace. Return by the known road; a mountain track towards another valley is a separate undertaking.

Booked accommodation or agreed village meeting point in Arslanbob. The forest representative pin is not the end of a drivable access route.
