The national park protects a large area, so a map marker represents the park rather than a single entrance or attraction. Travellers can base themselves in a village and choose walks or horse rides appropriate to the season. Longer routes continue into higher terrain and need separate planning. The valley makes a useful pause between Bishkek and Issyk-Kul for visitors who want time outside the main road corridor.
