ROUTE OVERVIEW

At a glance

The Alay road

The appeal of this ride is the transition from Osh’s warmer surroundings to the open Alay valley and its mountain skyline. The established road passes Chyiyrchyk, Gulcha and Taldyk before Sary-Tash. From there, follow the valley road to Sary-Mogol rather than adding an international crossing.

A village finish

Leave Osh with the guesthouse address confirmed and allow the mountain day to run at the pace of the least comfortable rider. Stop for views only where every bike can stand clear of traffic. After arrival, a quiet village walk and an early meal make a better first programme than an immediate strenuous climb. Stay one or two nights, checking warmth, bedding and the next morning’s road report with the host.

Ride preparation

Wind, cloud and a cold descent can make a long day tiring. Wear protective layers and keep dry gloves or a workable rain solution accessible. Plan fuel from the actual loaded-bike range and verify intended refills before relying on them. Carry compatible tyre-repair equipment and agree assistance between riders. Check documents, insurance and rental route permissions. Tulpar-Kul, glacier camps and border roads have different surfaces or access arrangements; they are optional separate plans, not part of the village finish.

Preparation and equipment

Well-maintained touring/adventure bike selected for current surfaces, a mountain-road rider and conservative luggage load.

Confirm transport to the actual trailhead, not just the nearest town. Agree the return pickup point and a latest contact time before leaving mobile coverage.

By car & parking

Ask locally about road access, entry rules and a permitted place to park. Use the line only for its stated mode of travel and exact scope.
